"Damn why they gotta stick me for my paper"
This pretty much sums up the "American Experience". I have been watching footage of the sheer devastation happening in NOLA. Was there some kind of Nostradamus thing I missed. 2005 is kicking some ass.

I know it's a bit last minute but everybody should check out the Bumbershoot Visual Arts Gala Tonight. It's the closest thing to an actual survey of what is happening in art here in Seattle all in one place. Here's some info for you---
Le Merde and Charles Whiteside Present:::
Here are some flix from the Shawn Wolfe show at OKOK this month. They are still selling tickets for the raffle of an actual piece of art by Shawn Wolfe. So you got till the 11th of Sept. to get over to OKOK and pay $5 for some art and help support Art Works in the process.
The Outside Institute is a new gallery in London that focuses on the ever expanding "Urban Art" world. Europeans definately seem to be embracing street art as a significant element to global culture. Perhaps we may one day see a gallery like Western Bridge focus on Urban Art here in Seattle.
Fill that hole in your soul with Illustration Mundo "A Place where Illustration gets all the love"
I just got word that OkOk plans on raffling an original painting by Shawn Wolfe tomorrow at his opening. the tickets are only $5 so I know what i gotsta do.
The other day I did a stroll through Capital Hill to see what was happening in the galleries up there. Of course I was refused the opportunity to take a photo of the work on display at Goods, this place seems to think it exists outside of the community or something. Whatever... I decided that I should check out the Charles Glaubitz show at Blue Bottle. Holy sh#t this is the real deal. I really loved the work here, definately the best I have seen this summer. I totally suggest seeing this, maybe even buying something because the work is totally underpriced. It's funny regarding pricing in Seattle, artists seriously have to undercut themselves to make any sales and even then they struggle to get sales. Whats with that? any way here are a couple flix from the Glaubitz show. As for the work by Iosefatu Sua, Peekaboo, and Angry Woebots at Goods............ sorry guys.
Shawn Wolfe, One of Seattles most celebrated graphic designers, is having a show at OKOK this friday, August 19. It should be pretty good especially since we are talking about a local legend. Man you wouldn't believe the amount of times I've heard how this dude took on the Hells Angels and the Banditos in Reno for a bit of High Stakes Mahjong and woke up the next day with a necklace made of Ears and ponytail stretchies. You better not test. OKOK is located at 709 Broadway E. Seattle Wa 98102
This past friday there was a pretty cool live painting thing happening at LoFi with local artist collective "Pocketfull of monsters". It's pretty cool to see artists getting busy like that, watching the techniques that they use and just seeing them create. I guess this is a growing trend across the nation, not only in clubs but in spaces like Hotel Des Arts in SF or the Barnstormers public art attack on rural buildings.
Another bad ass magazine by my man Ray Noland

An interview with Alex Calderwood, owner of the Ace Hotel, and Rudys Barbershop . A very positive look at what The Ace is all about. This interview is from The Brilliance an amazing web magazine that is covering "Ballers" all over the globe.
